Reflexology is an ancient, natural healing technique that has been practiced for over 5000 years by many different cultures. It involves a gentle yet effective massage of various points and zones on the feet ( or hands), which correspond to the different parts of the body, organs, glands and body systems, providing deep relaxation, restoring balance and promoting self healing.
Reflexology may be used for the prevention, as well as the correction of, ill health and can benefit people of all ages. It can improve nerve function, boost circulation, improve the function of the lymphatic system, increase energy levels and strengthen the immune system. It is an excellent way to reduce stress levels, relieve tension and restore health and balance to the body and mind.
Reflexology can alleviate a wide range of health problems and have an impact on the underlying causes of many ailments including headaches, asthma, PMS, infertility, fatigue, digestive disorders (including IBS), insomnia, pain from arthritis and sciatica, poor circulation, skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
The number of treatments required depends on the length of time a condition has been present, but a course of 4 to 6 treatments will bring an improvement to many ailments and can complement traditional medicinal practices.
The usual treatment length is 1 hour 15 minutes but the first visit will be longer to allow for a detailed consultation.
Zone Therapy is also available, which is a 30 minute treatment. This is an excellent introduction to Reflexology or as an addition to a body treatment.
